Here are 10 tips to help you ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby in order to optimize the mother’s and baby’s health before, during, and after pregnancy to prevent various pregnancy problems including low weight.
#1 Choose the right time to be pregnant
Health and Age both play a key role in pregnancy. This doesn’t mean that the mother should be healthy during or before or after the pregnancy instead she should be healthy at age as well. Some women who tend to have pregnancy before 16 or after 40 are more likely to have chances of preterm child.
#2 Eat Healthy
Eating plenty of colourful fruits and vegetables instead of fat and sugar can boost your baby’s health. Intake of whole grains, calcium-rich foods, and low saturated fat foods are also good for pregnant women.

#3 Boost your Vitamins
Get sufficient amount of calcium, folic acid and other supplements which you can get from natural foods or other multivitamins. Spinach, milk and yoghurt are good in Calcium. One may also prescribe her doctor for effective multivitamins.
#4 Avoid Alcohol
Alcohol can impact a baby’s health in the earliest stages of pregnancy which may increase the risk of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) in baby which can cause abnormalities or disabilities.

#5 Don’t smoke
As unhealthy is alcohol the same is smoking as it increases the risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), miscarriages or other unhealthy outcomes.

#6 Daily Exercising
Get moving is a mandatory step for pregnant women. Women can ask their doctors for the amount of exercising they require.

#7 Plenty of sleep
Try to sleep for about 7 to 9 hours and on your left side to improve the blood flow to your child and yourself.

#8 Get a flu shot
While you are pregnant the flu can make you severely sick so ask your doctor to give you a flu shot.

#9 Reduce stress
Pregnant women should recruit their loved ones to reduce their stress. Avoiding Stress and stressful situations are very crucial for pregnant women and their baby.
#10 Proper prenatal care
Pregnant women should regularly visit their doctors and go for regular prenatal care as avoiding prenatal care can increase the chances of low birth weight.
